Diane is a registered early childhood educator from Ontario, Canada. Diane taught early childhood education at both the degree and the diploma level for over 30 years. Diane received a Bachelor of Honours Degree from York University, an Early Childhood Education Diploma from Seneca College and a Master of Education Degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Diane’s doctoral thesis on emergent curriculum was published in 2008 and she has co-written three ECE textbooks and a number of peer-reviewed articles. Diane is currently writing a book for Redleaf Press on professional friendships in early childhood education.

Diane is the past president of the Association for Early Childhood Educators of Ontario and the current coordinator of the York Region Nature Collaborative. Diane writes a blog to support professional learning in early childhood education: Technology Rich Inquiry Based Research and is active on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Diane has presented workshops and keynote addresses in Ontario, across Canada and internationally. Since May 2020, she has been presenting webinars on a multitude of topics to educators across the globe.

Workshop

Early childhood educators’ professional growth journeys are sometimes isolating. This webinar will introduce the theory, application, and practice of critical friendships. It will invite participants to reflect on their own professional friendships and children's peer to peer relationships in a parallel process. What would be the impact of supportive professional friendship on practice? Participants should come ready to consider the possibilities and think about supporting and growing peer friendships.
