In 1980 a group of young moms recognized that Oakville needed a place where parents could meet friends, share their stories, and learn more about parenting. A place that was healthy, safe and offered quality activities and programs for young children. This group of volunteer parents created a special place and called it Oakville Parent-Child Centre (OPCC). We offer high quality, warm and educational experiences for your family to enjoy. Our mission is to support, nurture and empower children and their families as they learn and grow together! This is reflected in the commitment we make to our families in daily activities and in the value we place on early childhood development.

OPCC provides a 10-week newcomer program called Welcome Home, funded by United Way Halton and Hamilton. Welcome Home engages newcomer families and their young children in a culturally sensitive and collaborative learning journey to achieve a deeper understanding of child development and cross-cultural parenting practices. The program bridges participation into the broader organization and Oakville community through relationship and network building. Welcome Home utilizes culturally responsive pedagogy for all families to feel a sense of belonging and comfort in sharing their own lived experiences in a respectful and caring environment.
